This weekend my husband took me "home" to Alabama. Now I've been married for almost 7 years, but there's no place as dear to me as my small hometown in Southwest Alabama. There's just something about going home, to the place where you are loved and your presence is desired. There I can relax and be myself like no other. It's just home.
Saturday, I attended a Ladies' Conference at my home church. I always look forward to going. It's a time when I can join with other women and get some good spiritual food tailored to specific feminine needs. The speaker this year was wonderful! She gave me a good kick in the pants--just what I needed! I've been in a funk (rut, slump) lately and I think I had just lost site of my purpose for being at home and had developed tunnel vision in some important areas. She opened my eyes to the much broader experience that God wants me to have. I wish I could explain all the ways the Lord spoke to me and helped me this weekend. I just can't put it into words. Can't wait for next year!
I was very excited to get to see an old friend I have not seen in over 10 years! I hope we can keep in touch a little bit better from now on!
Of course, we had the big Sunday dinner at my parents' house with my Grandparents, parents, and my brother's family. I would rather spend time with my family than anyone else. They are the best people I know! And our family is growing.....
Two grandkids our absent from this picture. My brother and his wife are expecting, and Emma was napping.
On our way back to LA, we stopped at Bass Pro in Pearl, MS and gave the kids a little break from the ride. They had a blast! What a great, free place to take the kids! I think Elijah was a little bit more excited than Grace, but she enjoyed it, too. Here's some cute snaps I got while there:

Glad you had a great weekend. The kids and I were disappointed you guys couldn't make a pit stop here. Maybe next time. I would love to see John. I hate that I live so far from my family. Guess we all wish we were somewhere else sometime....
I LOVED the pictures and yes it was a GREAT weekend. I'm still feasting from the Ladies Conference and thought about doing a little snippet of it on my blog. Just wish the weekend was longer! Enjoyed the visit!!!!!! Now off to show the kids the pics again... :o)
