Christmas Art (Card) Interpretation

My budding little artist, Elijah, has been creating some pretty spiffy Christmas scene art here lately, and I told him if he drew a really good one we might use it for our Christmas card this year. I found this laying around this morning, and I chuckle every time I look at it. The thing is...I'm a little puzzled...Santa Clause is riding a camel...and the Christmas lights and stockings are hanging from a cross....a mailbox??....and apparently there is a reward for Santa Clause?

So I thought it might be interesting to get your take, your interpretation, that is, on this odd, but undeniably creative, depiction of Christmas. Any guesses?

I think the message your little artist is trying to convey is clear: Santa has hijacked the true meaning of Christmas and must be stopped at all costs, thus the price on his head. The lights all over the cross also demonstrate the way the birth of Christ has become so commercialized. The greatest number of lights are on the mailbox, indicating the need to focus on the real message of Christmas. And Santa is riding a camel because...um...I'm still working on that one...

Oops. Okay, I just realized those aren't lights on the mailbox. But it's certainly anchored securely, I suppose so the true message of Christmas is received as it should be.

That is awesome! I love it! Santa is going really fast, too. That big sack is flowing in the wind. haha. The heavily anchored mailbox is great...I guess lots of Christmas cards. I'm actually very impressed with how he draped the lights on the cross, very artistic. Gotta love kids. I guess this kinda makes up for his Ebay habit! Merry CHRISTmas! <3

I don't know if I can guess the interpretation but I love the picture. My girls are too young to color anything beyond scribbles still, but if I ever get a picture like that I'll be sure to save it :-) Very special.
